Gary Barlow has been a big fan and supporter of James Arthur right through this year’s X Factor series and tonight he looked on with pride as the singer songwriter won the series.
After his final performance of the night the Take That star offered the 23 year old a few wise words of advice and told him to retain his credibility and his musicianship and to take control of his own career from here on in.

Speaking afterwards on The Xtra Factor – and looking a little bit pissed it has to be said – the dad of three praised both James and second place runner up Jahmene Douglas, saying he will definitely buy both their debut albums.
He added:
“The albums are going to be great. I can’t wait to listen to both of them.”

“Brilliant, brilliant. I think we have seen what they are going to do already. James, his could come out next week for me. I think we have seen what they are. Throughout the competition they have been consistent, they have stayed with their style, you can hear it already.”
